ABOUT CDEM

Diabetes is a global pandemic that puts millions at risk, while the age of onset has steadily decreased over the years. It affects an estimated 366 million people around the world while one in every ten Sri Lankan adults is diabetic and one in 25 is prone to diabetes as a result of genetic disposition or unhealthy lifestyles.
If ignored in its early stages, diabetes can give way to many adverse conditions such as diabetes neuropathy (nerve damage), retinopathy (eye damage), nephropathy (kidney damage and failure), as well as increased risk of heart attack and stroke, ulceration and amputation.

The Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Cardio-Metabolism (CDEM), declared open in 2016, was conceived from the vision of battling the diabetes menace with the aid of the country’s most sought-after consultant medical specialists as well as the latest in medical technology. CDEM tends to patients with diabetes, cardiac disease, endocrine and metabolic conditions, kidney disease and eye disease as it strives to provide the most holistic care available in the country, under one roof, at an affordable cost.

Our team of internationally-qualified medical veterans provides patients with an unmatched quality of diagnosis, treatment and aftercare. You can meet leading specialists in diabetology, endocrinology, cardiology, renal disease, ophthalmology, rolex deepsea replica vascular surgery and clinical nutrition. These specialists are supported by an experienced and dedicated team of nurses, health educators, pharmacists, dieticians, sexologists, physiotherapists, lab technicians, clinical care assistants and Patient Relations Officers.

Our mandate is not limited to the comprehensive care of a multi-disciplinary medical team but also educating patients and their families on diabetes, with the view of enhancing their quality of life as well as protecting future generations from the clutches of diabetes.
The unique services at CDEM include a state-of-the art medical laboratory, a pharmacy, advanced 2-D Echo cardiography and ultra-sound scanning, the Obesity Care and Dietary Advice Centre, a Physiotherapy Unit, the Foot Care Centre, a wound care clinic, an easily accessible outpatient department (OPD), the Eye Care Centre, and the Sexual Dysfunction Clinic.

CDEM is the vision of some of Sri Lanka’s leading medical professionals and is therefore not motivated by profits but by its objective of controlling diabetes and its many ill effects. We are committed to providing patients with the most complete care available in the country while creating a family atmosphere where patients will feel at home.
