Diabetes Treatment

One out of every 10 adults is at risk of diabetes and, frighteningly, this affects children as well. However, the level of awareness about this chronic disease and the host of life-threatening complications it could lead to, as well as knowledge about the basic truths on prevention, control and treatment are very limited. That is why CDEM, a frontrunner in the battle against diabetes, is committed, not only to the treatment of the disease, but also to educating patients and their families about the disease.

Diabetes education workshop

Diabetes does not just affect patients but also changes the lifestyles of those around them. The Education Centre holds its workshops for groups of no more than 25 participants, during which patients and their families are given life-saving advice by a team of doctors, nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, health promotions officers and medical laboratory technologists. This includes imparting valuable knowledge about what leads to diabetes, how to diagnose it, risk factors and prevention, as well as how to detect and manage the various complications that could crop up as a result. We also enlighten patients and families about the control of diabetes, which includes medication, dietary, exercise and lifestyle changes, as well as blood and other tests.

 Fun, interactive and informative

We make our workshops enjoyable and interactive for the groups in order to get the best results. The programme includes fun games as well as cooking and exercise routines. The CDEM Diabetes Care Prevention and Education Centre has already held dozens of programmes for patient groups with great participation and feedback.
